on Grace

Storm tree

Omnipotent, all-powerful, merciful God,
You, who parts waters, commands troubled skies,
Make ways through the darkness, open these eyes,
For the night is unending, the chasm too broad.

Stand firm in the tower; foundation, be sure.
Hold tight through the winds that threaten my end.
Be the Abiding; be the Savior; be the Friend.
These echoes, though empty, are all promising more.

Forgotten in this torment, hold fast to me still.
Every word unspoken, speak even now.
Every promise broken, renew Your vow.
Faithfully, unrelentingly open and fill.

Glory to glory, new mercies every morning,
With grace everlasting; for me, grace enduring.
